Government 2.0

The Government has just announced a new website www.gov2.net.au which is the destination for a new Government 2.0 Taskforce to publish information.

They’re beginning with a crowdsourcing competition to design the banner / logo for the site. You can get more information about the competition here – http://gov2.net.au/banner-competition/

This is a new, very positive side of the government, one that claims to have more transparency and seems to have representatives that understand the benefits of using social media. There’s been some great quotes from the forum (live streamed and discussed on twitter with #publicsphere), such as “Top down is no longer the best model of government".

Check out my entry into the competition.

Cool, what program did you use to design it? How long did you spend on it? What did you have for breakfast? How long is a town near Albury…etc. etc.

I used Adobe Fireworks to create the image, I could have used photoshop, but ultimately knew I'd be exporting through Fireworks to get the smallest image size for the web.

How long did I spend ? Around 10 minutes, so not a huge time investment, I was trying to be the first to submit. Unfortunately I wasn't first, but was definitely one of the first.

Not quite sure what you mean by “How long is a town near Albury”. If you can clarify, I'll try and answer.

…sorry, just my bent sense of humour with all the questions. Howlong IS a town near Albury. Don't mind me. Shall have to check out Fireworks if it can be used so effectively in such a short time.
