AWstats be scared.. be very scared!

Posted on: 31/Mar/08

The statistics of website are interesting for a number of reasons, unique visitors is interesting to advertisers, browser share is important to developers and tracking which pages are visited can be used to evaluating the success of a marketing promotion. As a general rule, the more information available the better, to enable the most informed decision possible.

AWstats is the server-side utility that tracks the statistics of websites. You get some nice information about users visiting your site – a monthly / yearly breakdown, number of unique visitors / page visits, which country they’re from, and their browser of choice.

Little has changed in the website statistics game for years now. Most people accepting that this is largely the best information they can extract.

That is of course until now.. Introducing the statistics Web 2.0 style – Woopra!

Woopra

It’s a client / server based application that allows you to view REAL TIME stats from your site(s). Not only view this information, but amazingly you can actually interact with known (registered) users.

This is clearly taking website monitoring to the next level. One of the best features is the ability to watch what people are searching for via Google.

Cali from Geekbrief.tv has the scoop interview with the creator of Woopra.

GeekBrieft intros Woopra

It’s in beta at the moment, I jumped at the chance to sign up, I haven’t yet received my invite code yet, but I’ll do my best to get one before this weeks podcast and I’ll give you a full review using techAU.tv.

Update
The guys at Woopra were nice enough to send me through an invite so I can test Woopra and review it on this weeks episode of the podcast.

AWstats is free. Woopra wants money if you have more than a couple of hits/day…
