LivePlace looks stunning, server-side rendered 3D world

With a mix of private and public areas, in an almost limitless environment, LivePlace is a virtual 3D world with a big difference. The processing required to create and display the stunning world is done server-side. This dramatically lowers the barrier to entry, enabling low-end machines and even mobile phones to use LivePlace.

Right now all that’s know is what’s included in the video below, and although it looks very impressive graphically, there’s no indication of how users interact together, which is a key component of the experience.

If LivePlace works as you’d imagine, users will be able to create and maintain your very own heavily customisable virtual apartment / house, furniture, your avatar and more. All this will surely come at a cost to users, either a per item costing model or a monthly access fee. A social networking element will no doubt feature heavily in LivePlace.

One of the most impressive features of LivePlace is surely it’s dynamic lighting, another detail that’s left out is how, when and who has control.

With an OTOY plugin (OTOY is the engine LifePlace is built on) you can share your own files / images / videos and even applications to your place in LivePlace.

Check out the video below.
