PS3 Firmware 2.00 now available

If you’ve got a PS3, it’s time to once again update your firmware, what’s new in version 2.00? Well you can check out a video of the new feature at Playstation, or keep reading.

Remote Start
For this you’ll need a PSP and access to a Wi-Fi. If you’d like to access the media stored on your PS3, but don’t want to leave it on the entire time your out of your house, you can use your PSP to turn your PS3 on or off remotely.

I doubt many average consumers will get much benefit from this, certainly no-one I know even owns a PSP, thanks UMD.

Information Board
This is a panel that sits on the right side of the interface and provides updates news feed style about Playstation news such as new game releases.

Vibration
That’s right Sony have finally realised that gamers do benefit from the tactile feedback that controller vibration provides. This ones been pretty much unanimously laughed at in the blogersphere. To consider any console Next-Gen, without a key feature of previous-gen consoles is just that laughable, this shouldn’t be news.

Playlists
Create playlists for your photos and music. Enough said.

Custom Themes

Custom themes are already emerging, like this one from Engadget, basically changes the icons as well as the background… sound exciting.. didn’t think so.
