Most of you will be familiar with Qik, but for those that aren’t, it’s a mobile application that lets you stream live to the internet. It’s available for a growing number of devices the most popular at this point is probably the Nokia N95. Some time ago Qik released an iPhone version, but required you to have a jailbroken iPhone. A number of people have jailbroken their iPhone specific for Qik, this shows the kind of demand there is in the marketplace.

Kevin Rose has a pre-release copy of the Application already, in a video walkthrough he showcases the upcoming, soon to be released, legitimate (no jailbreak needed), in the App Store, iPhone version of Qik.

The app works using WiFi or 3G. It’s high bandwidth applications like this, that are the reason I chose an iPhone plan with plenty of data. Until we get hands on with the app, it’s hard to tell just how much data it’ll chew per second.
