SnapTell

Get ready to change the way you shop. iPhone owners can now snap a photo of almost any product (Books, DVDs, CDs, Video games), SnapTell then recognizes the product and gives you the option for more information or to compare prices.

Sound too good to be true, well I was amazed at how well the application works. It takes a few seconds to upload the image to SnapTell servers, it’s then quickly recognized and your offered multiple services to choose from.

Below is an example I tried of my PS3 controller. It was recognised and worked a treat!

Currently price comparisons are only available from US retailers but they’re working on international support for this in the future. When this occurs I can absolutely see a number of people changing their buying habits. If your in a store and armed with this application, it’d be crazy not to spend the few seconds it takes to compare prices, who knows you may find the same product cheaper at another retailer close by.

This is truly a ground breaking application, so let’s hope stores don’t start banning people from using there phone in-store to do this. Retailers have been depending on consumers not price checking competitors for too long, now this functionality is in your pocket, it makes the whole process so simply.

Amazingly this, one of the most useful iPhone apps to date, is free!
