Vodafone Australia cutting it close with pricing announcement

 iPhone vodafone pricing

With only 3 days before the launch of the iPhone 3G in Australia, we’re still yet to hear any details from Vodafone Australia. NZ pricing was announced in the past 24 hrs, so it surely not far off.

With so little time left, Vodafone (and somewhat Telstra due to their limited pricing details), the late announcement could affect consumers purchase schedules. Although some people do make snap purchasing decisions, most would rather assess their options, then make an educated decision on which carrier to go with.

To make that educated decision we need to know all the information. Is 3 days really long enough to achieve this ? This will also increase the number of people who enter the store without having a plan pre-selected. With this generation of the iPhone requiring in-store activation, carriers should be doing everything they can to minimize the time spent in-store.

Vodafone Australia had their pricing up briefly this morning before taking it down again. The pricing appeared when you clicked the pre-register link. iPhone plans were $69 and $99. No prepaid option was available. The $69 plan had 250Mb of included data. The $99 had 500Mb. Neither plan had an iphone at no cost. Unfortunately I cannot remember exact pricing (I stupidly hit refresh on my browser) however I beleive on the $99 plan the 8Gb model was approx $190 and the 16Gb $370 upfront.
