After being a Windows Live One Care user since the first beta, I’ve been really happy with One Care’s set and forget operation. One of the best features being the automated backup.

Well that’s all about 2 change, Microsoft today announced after only 2 versions of Windows Live One Care, they will be discontinuing the product. Some are speculating this is due to poor user adoption and market share.

If you believe Microsoft, they’re simply changing tact as a response to the large number of people still not running any virus and anti-spyware / malware protection. Unfortunately the replacement will be a stripped down version and loose a couple of key features, automated backup and tune-up.

The good news is the new product, currently in development (code name = Morro), will be free.

I cannot believe that they are discontinuing it.

    That is just crazy.
