Windows XP Home extension 2 years

It’s long been known that Microsoft had already extended the sales period of Windows XP from the end of 2007 to June 2008. Well Windows XP Home edition will get yet another extension. The OS of choice for many new ultra-mobiles like the Asus Eee PC and the new Intel’s Classmate, will be available for one year after the next release of Windows (Windows 7).

Given Microsoft has confirmed a 2010 timeframe for the release of Vista’s successor, XP Home edition should be around till at least 2011. But don’t get any ideas of sticking with XP on your home PC or full size laptop, it’s only an extension for the Home version, which is very limited in functionality.

I’m sure this announcement will have the XP faithful’s asking if your supporting one version of XP, how hard would it be to support the rest. Personally I moved on from XP around mid-2006 when the first Vista betas arrived, I’m always keen to take advantage of new features in any software.
